Trim Celtic continued their impressive winning streak and advanced to the quarter finals of the Gerry Reilly Cup after an early scare away to Walshestown.
The home side took the lead in the first minute after a mix-up in the Trim defence left the simplest of chances to the home player. Celtic regrouped, and two goals form the in form Paul Walsh turned the game around before half time. Walshestown equalised early in the second half only for Celtic to re-take the lead within five minutes when Walsh completed his hat trick with a great finish after great work by Sean Walsh on the right wing.
Celtic survived a scare when the home side struck the upright with ten minutes to go and the game was in the balance until Marcus Bailey hit a screamer in injury time to put a gloss on the game that was a bit harsh on the home side. Next up for Celtic is the small matter of an O’Neill shield final next Saturday at 2:00 against neighbours Robinstown in the MDL.
Best of luck to Walshestown for the rest of the season.
